How many gigs are you going?
I hope he will come back to Japan, but chances are so slim.

I had a chance to see Quasimode in gig earlier this year in March, and they were simply fantastic. And it's great that Wouter did a collaboration with them!

Just the one in Bristol  Thekla is a boat converted into a music venue, so nice and intimate

Hamel played his first gig in Paris last night. This showcase took place at Le Réservoir, a small place which is basically a restaurant and sometimes opens a venue for pop or jazz gigs (Peter Cincotti played there for the release of his last CD).
So there were approximately 100 people (mostly having dinner) and most of those who came for Wouter were Dutch people living in Paris... 
Wouter and his band (keyboards, drums, percussions, bass, guitar) played a 90 mn set. He spoke a few sentences in French, explaining that a few weeks ago he rented an apartment in Montmartre to stay and write new songs in Paris.
It was my first time seeing him live, I really enjoyed this gig although it was very noisy (people eating and speaking all night long !).
In the afternoon, there were exchanges on twitter between Wouter and Melody Gardot. Melody who was also in Paris (taping a TV show) asked Hamel about his gig. Unfortunately she didn’t show up at night…

Saw Wouter tweeting about being in the UK and figured that it was probably nearly time for Bettina to go see him. Still a week away but have fun!!!

Yes, I'm enjoyig his tweets too. Hopefully he'll do a few more interviews too, so that there is some press about him. Doesn't look as if he is getting very big audiences at the moment

Hamel and band were amazing on Thursday night. Considering that they'd had a bad day - flat tyre on their car, having to abandon their tour manager with it at a garage in Sheffield and then hop on a train to Bristol, their performance was fantastic!!
Unfortunately the audience which greeted them aboard Thekla was no more than 50 people, but they soon made enough noise for twice that number!
 
 
Here is the only decent video I took of the night - Thekla being a metal boat does not make for good acoustics!!

| I miss Wouter Hamel last monday, he was on stage as support act for Marit Larsen. But it is, as I was thinking he will come back this year to Hamburg to play at the Elb Jazzfestival, yeah!!!!! |
