It's really great to hear Imelda May on the radio these days
I've been following her progress since first seeing her as Jools Holland's support act in 2006. Since then she's appeared a couple of times on "Later..." and started to have her own headline shows, which is great to see.
I bought her album "Love Tattoo" from her at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, and it is in my top ten albums for 2008.
Imelda's music is a mix between Rockabilly, Blues and Jazz. Her vocals are beautifully sultry even when the song is up-beat .........oh, and she has a quiff and a poodle skirt ........and a bodhran (obligatory as she's Irish )
Anyway, check her out:

http://www.imeldamay.com/ - featuring a great video of "Johnny got a Boom Boom" recorded a Louisianna, one of my favourite Bristol Venues ....... you'll spot me in the crowd if you're very quick
Imelda is absolutely excellent live, and is touring a lot of smaller venues in February - my advice is catch her before she goes big - you will not be disappointed!!

| I think she's my favorite of the opening acts I've seen at Jamie's gigs. |

What about Josh Ritter, I think he opened for Jamie on a few Catching Tales gigs...
For the European gigs, Beady Belle and Nizlopi were my favorite support acts. |

Definitely my fave Jamie opener, too. She's incredible. I was wowed when she was on the Grammys and to see her live... was amazing. That girl is good! _________________ Peace, Love, Beatles, and Jamie! |

I agree! She was great. Saw her twice, liked her a lot! (But let's not forget Raul Midon either!) _________________ Home at last! |
